Elephant print revolutionized basketball footwear when Tinker Hatfield introduced it on the Air Jordan 3 in 1988, a year after debuting ostrich print on the Air Safari. The exotic pattern helped convince Michael Jordan to stay with Nike during a crucial contract negotiation. This Air Jordan 1 High OG honors that legacy by isolating the grey elephant print texture to the Swoosh, creating visual continuity with the matching grey collar and Wings logo. The upper layers Sail, Pale Ivory, and Coconut Milk tones across premium leather panels, while the eyestay substitutes standard leather for rougher textile material.
