Nike taps Korean designer Hyein Seo for their first-ever collaboration on the new Ava Rover—dropping an all-black tactical runner packed with street-ready detail and utilitarian grit.

This new edition is cast entirely in deep Sequoia/Black tones, with layered mesh and ballistic-inspired fabric lending a rugged, dystopian edge. The signature pixel-textured mudguard wraps around the profile, while the heel loop and sockliner feature Hyein Seo branding for a discreet co-branded finish. The sculpted midsole shows off ReactX cushioning, visible through cutouts in the partly recycled rubber outsole—melding performance engineering with avant-garde style.

Underfoot, the ReactX foam brings a springy, energetic response tailored for urban mobility. The lightweight outsole, borrowed from ACG design, offers traction for mixed terrain. A snug, padded collar and breathable panels elevate comfort while maintaining that footwear-as-armor aesthetic. This is a purpose-built street runner—engineered for long hauls through unpredictable city landscapes.

The Nike Ava Rover x Hyein Seo 'Sequoia Black' quietly launched in Seoul on June 6, 2025, via Hyein Seo’s site, followed by releases at select Korean shops on June 13, before hitting Nike SNKRS globally on June 28, priced at $145 / £130/ 140€.
