Design & Inspiration

Originally released in 2007 as part of Nike's Air Force 1 25th Anniversary Artist Series, this premium sneaker featured Kobe's laser-etched portrait on the lateral heel. The 2025 Protro version faithfully recreates the linen-colored premium leather upper with tucked seams that hide exterior stitching, while Bryant's serious gaze remains etched in metallic gold beneath the Swoosh. University Blue accents on the outsole, lace dubrae, and Swoosh stitching pay homage to the Minneapolis Lakers' original roots before the franchise moved to Los Angeles. Custom insoles feature "Performance, Strength, Innovation, Attitude, Revolution, and Power" on the left and Kobe's sheath logo on the right, adding subtle tribute details throughout.

The Protro treatment brings significant upgrades to the classic design. An ultra-plush drop-in ReactX foam midsole pairs with Nike Air cushioning for supreme comfort, replacing the original's visible Air unit setup. The translucent blue rubber outsole differs from the 2007's semi-translucent window design but maintains the vibrant aesthetic.
