Nigel Sylvester has built his Jordan collaborations around one central idea: sneakers are made to be lived in. With the Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG 'Better With Time', the BMX icon brings that philosophy to the AJ1 Low for the first time, reworking the silhouette with the same intentional wear-and-tear that made his 2018 AJ1 High an instant classic.

The upper is dressed in black tumbled leather with sail overlays and a cream Swoosh, each panel carrying deliberate distressing to mimic the scuffs and scrapes of Sylvester’s own well-worn pairs. The lateral Swoosh is removed entirely, replaced with a hand-drawn outline graphic — a nod to Nigel’s creative process and the idea of sketching the Swoosh back onto the shoe. This same motif appears on the heel tab beneath the white Wings logo.

Signature Nigel details return: a mini Swoosh embroidered on the toe box, pre-aged cream midsole, red outsole with pre-applied “dirt” marks, and Bike Air branding on the tongue and insole. The sockliner reads Jordan Biking Co. EST. 2017, referencing the year Nigel began designing his first AJ1 project. Reflective 3M accents and extra logo outlining add depth, while subtle shape adjustments — a larger Swoosh, an extra eyestay, and proportions closer to the original ’85 AJ1 Low — make this one of the most authentic Low OG builds to date.

Special packaging replaces the classic Nike box branding with bold “Bike” text, and inside, a lid graphic of a BMX bike reinforces the personal connection. More than a collaboration, Better With Time is Nigel Sylvester’s personal sneaker diary — a reminder that every scuff tells a story, and the best pairs are the ones that have lived life with you.
