The iridescent shell that defined peak Foamposite era is back. Fourteen years after selling out in hours, the Nike Air Foamposite Pro "Pine Green" returns in December 2025, delivering the same color-shifting metallic upper that made the 2011 release a cult classic.

Design & Inspiration

The signature molded Foamposite upper steals the show with its iridescent finish that shifts from dark green to hints of purple, gold, and black depending on lighting angles. This color-shifting effect is inherent to the liquid polyurethane manufacturing process pioneered by designer Eric Avar in 1997, where synthetic material is poured into molds and heat-formed to create the seamless shell.

Black nubuck eyestays, mesh tongue, and mesh heel tab provide essential contrast. The large molded black Swoosh sits prominently on the lateral side—the defining feature that distinguishes the Foamposite Pro from Penny Hardaway's swoosh-less Foamposite One. Pine green detailing appears on the mini Swoosh near the toe box, tongue striping, and pull tab stitching. The translucent blue-tinted rubber outsole completes the aesthetic with an icy finish.

Unlike the "Pearl" colorway that gained legendary status through Ray Allen's performance in "He Got Game," the "Pine Green" earned its stripes organically. Nike released it in September 2011 with no elaborate marketing campaign, yet pairs flew off shelves based purely on the color-shifting shell's visual impact.

Comfort & Performance

The molded Foamposite upper creates a glove-like fit that molds to the foot's shape over time, providing lockdown support. Full-length Zoom Air cushioning runs through the concealed Phylon midsole, with an additional Zoom Air bag stacked in the heel for impact protection. The carbon fiber shank plate provides midfoot stability, while the translucent rubber outsole features herringbone traction pods for multidirectional grip.
