The Nike Moon Shoe "Soft Pearl" brings first-ever Nike running shoe into standard catalog marking historic archival release after 55 years.

Design & Inspiration

Soft Pearl off-white nylon upper creating clean minimalist aesthetic. Black leather Swoosh on lateral and medial sides. Black suede overlays on toe box and mudguard. Black leather heel counter. Traditional cotton laces with metal eyelets. Modified fold-over collar at heel. Slightly bulkier paneling updating original silhouette. Black waffle outsole with signature traction pattern. Moon Shoe created 1971 by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman who poured liquid urethane into wife's waffle iron creating revolutionary waffle sole. Hand-cobbled by Geoff Hollister for 1972 US Olympic Trials—approximately 12 pairs made. Nicknamed "Moon Shoe" because waffle-pattern footprints resembled lunar tracks. Never entered production but led to Waffle Trainer 1975. Debuted publicly 2025 through Jacquemus collaboration.
