Design & Inspiration

The Nike P-6000 debuted in 2019 as Nike's tribute to the Pegasus runners of the early 2000s, drawing inspiration directly from two beloved models: the Pegasus 25 and Pegasus 2006. The Pegasus franchise originally launched in the early 1980s, responding to athletes' needs with bouncy Air cushioning technology. After falling out of favor in the mid-to-late 1990s, the Pegasus made a strong comeback in 2000 as Nike doubled down on its commitment to the running community, delivering some of the series' most beloved designs during the 2000s era.

Nearly two decades later, deep nostalgia for Y2K styles led to the development of the P-6000. The model borrowed the highly breathable mesh upper with undulating synthetic leather panels from the Pegasus 25 and 2006, then added even more vertical and horizontal overlays to form a distinctive latticework structure across the entire outer. The windowed panels on toe and heel mirror the Pegasus 2006, as do the molded leather Swoosh logos with thickly embroidered outlines. The midsole adopted the wavy grooves of both Pegasus silhouettes, while the outsole features classic Waffle grip pads used across Nike's running heritage. Tongue webbing displays "Bowerman Series" branding—a respectful nod to Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman.
