The Off-White x Futura x Nike Dunk Low 'Mets' is a limited edition sneaker designed in collaboration with legendary artist Futura Laboratories and late founder of Off-White, Virgil Abloh.
The shoe features a colorway inspired by Futura's New York Mets fandom, and a nod to another canonical Nike Dunk Low SB release, the 2002 'Danny Supa' Nike SB Dunk. Futura's signature abstraction dances across the uppers of both colorways, along with the Futura Laboratories 'FL' logo. The design also includes a modified version of Virgil's famous Helvetica date and place of origin stamp. The shoe was never intended for wide commercial release, with an extremely limited allotment designated for auction for the benefit of a non-profit of importance to Virgil and Futura. The remaining shoes were to be distributed to Virgil and Futura’s communities – friends, artists, and designers – all of deep personal significance to the pair, making each pair a personalized one-of-one gift that was a metaphor for the invaluable spirit of community, friendship, and collaboration.
The auction will go live on 14th April at different time (depends on size) on
Sothebys.
