The Offspring x Nike Air Max Sunder "Community" isn't just another collaboration — it's a groundbreaking co-creation project where UK voices shaped every design decision, with all proceeds supporting the next generation of creatives.
Design & Inspiration
Born from immersive workshops at Nike's King's Cross store, this sneaker was co-designed by Community members working alongside Nike product designers. The process began with moodboards and creative concepts reflecting the vision of a true Community sneaker, with conversations around materials, colours, and cultural influences shaping UK experiences. The Gym Red denim upper with Smoke Grey accents emerged from this collaborative refinement process, featuring metallic details like the mini Swoosh and central zip. Every material choice and color decision represents authentic voices from the UK sneaker community, making this release a genuine celebration of collective creativity rather than a traditional top-down collaboration.
Comfort & Performance
Built on the Air Max Sunder's late-90s foundation, the shoe maintains the signature visible Air Max units beneath the forefoot and heel for reliable cushioning. The denim construction delivers enhanced durability while adding textural depth, supported by strategic leather and synthetic overlays. This isn't just about aesthetics — the Community designers focused on creating a wearable everyday sneaker that balances heritage Air Max comfort with contemporary streetwear sensibility, ensuring their design translates into genuine day-to-day performance.
Release Information & Pricing
Here's where this release truly stands apart: proceeds from the launch are being donated to thisway.up_, a Community Interest Company committed to sharing knowledge, opportunity and experience from creative professionals to youth. Originally scheduled for September 27, 2025, the release has been postponed to a later date. Retail price is set at approximately £60 GBP (significantly lower than the standard 165£ Air Max Sunder releases), making this accessible pricing part of the community-first ethos. The editorial campaign was even shot by students from Chobham Academy through the thisway.up_ partnership. Expected to drop via Offspring and select UK retailers — this is truly by the Community, for the Community, back to the Community.
