The UNDEFEATED x Air Jordan 4 OG SP marks the 20th anniversary return of Jordan Brand's first-ever boutique collaboration, originally limited to just 72 pairs in 2005. This legendary MA-1 flight jacket-inspired sneaker resurfaced in August 2025, bringing one of sneaker culture's most coveted grails to a wider audience.
Design & Inspiration
The 2005 UNDEFEATED x Air Jordan 4 was Jordan Brand's inaugural collaboration with a boutique, designed by co-founders James Bond and Eddie Cruz. Originally conceived as a BlackBerry 7230-inspired colorway before shifting to military aesthetics, only 72 pairs were produced and distributed via in-store raffle and online auction. The design channels the classic MA-1 bomber jacket with deep green (olive) nubuck upper, clementine orange accents on the inner tongue and visible Air unit, black mesh side panels, and sail midsole. The removable Velcro tongue patch adds flight jacket authenticity, while UNDEFEATED's five-strike logo appears on the insole and co-branded hangtag.
Comfort & Performance
Built on Tinker Hatfield's 1989 Air Jordan 4 silhouette, the collaboration features visible Air cushioning in the heel for responsive comfort. TPU wings provide lateral stability, while the supportive midsole and dependable traction pattern deliver on-court performance capabilities. The 2025 retro updates construction to modern Air Jordan 4 standards while maintaining the original's premium materials. Black nylon tongue, mesh panels, and nubuck leather combine for breathability and durability. Three sets of laces (including optional orange) offer customization options.
Release Information & Pricing
The UNDEFEATED x Air Jordan 4 OG SP released August 2, 2025 via UNDEFEATED.com following EQL raffles, with a wider SNKRS release on August 28, 2025. To celebrate the release, UNDEFEATED organized special activations through pop-up stores in key cities including Chicago and Paris. The Chicago pop-up featured massive shipping containers at Millennium Park (July 25-26) with exclusive early raffle access via QR codes displayed on oversized digital screens. Paris followed with a pop-up at the Pablo T-Shirt Factory offering SNKRS Pass pickup in early August. These temporary retail experiences reinforced the cultural significance of the collaboration's 20th anniversary return.
