Nike Initiator

First released in the late 2000s, the Nike Initiator is an entry-level running shoe from Nike that combines low price, functional use and fashion.

The Nike Initiator offers a rather minimalist and voluminous retro look in the dad shoe style, reminiscent of the Nike Monarch IV or the Nike P-6000.

Most of its releases feature a breathable mesh upper with synthetic leather overlays including support reinforcements to prevent the foot from slipping inside the shoe. A patent leather swoosh stands out on the sides, while a soft lining surrounds the ankle for added comfort.

The foam midsole offers soft cushioning and flex grooves on the underside of the foot facilitate diversity of movement.

The Nike Initiator therefore fits squarely into the category of modern mesh running shoes, which have evolved from performance running shoes to lifestyle and fashion models.

When first released, the retail price of the Nike Iniator was only around 50€.

Since the recent inflation in the sneaker market, Nike has gradually raised the price to end up (in 2024-2025) at 79.99€/74.99£/80$.
